Green and Gold!

Another idea for Unstampabelles challenge #69

#69: To the men in our lives.....
TWIST add an animal or bird

The Prize will be .....
a mystery collection of new crafting bits
As it is a mystery - there is no photograph of it!
There might be teasers during the month......

it's a small box and a tag - it can hold a double handful of Lintt balls.

I added a small sticker of a Tassie Tiger later and rephotographed it!

The sentiment is sticking over the edges of the tag and there is sparkly card under the 'flame' on the candles of the tag.

All faces of the box have the die cut out of candles.

A quick and easy gift for a male colleague or similar.

I enjoyed a lovely day out at Bruny Island last week on a four wheel drive Forest to Coast tour of the island and lunch was provided - oysters, smoked salmon and trout, cheese, bread and strawberries and grapes plus white wine - all Tasmanian of course.

Yummo!!!

This was the beach.......can you see the vehicles far along the beach?

Midway Post for Unstampabelles

Unstampabelles is midway through the June challenge and there are only three entries! That is a 1 in 3 chance of winning at this stage. Winning what, you ask......a box of goodies.....

Random Number selection

I made another card for the Design Team inspiration.

A birthday card for a man (or boy).

Lot's of silver card pieces embossed by lot's of different Embossing Folders
Then rubbed over with lot's of different inks and paints and creams......too many to remember

I wanted it to look grungy!

It looks different in different light.

The Happy and another vertical strip are raised up, the rest are flat.
I saw this in a magazine as an idea and loved it so made my own.
They used alcohol inks to colour theirs - I didn't have any of these -  other than some Copic refills of light colours - so made do with other things.

I was happy with the outcome.

I will enter this in the following challenges:

I will leave you with a photo I took last night from my front deck of the sunset:

Lighthouses and Seasides......

Over at Crafting with Dragonflies the team are asking you to use a sentiment as a main focus for the newest challenge. Earlier this week I went on an excursion to the seaside (for my Uni course) with a 4 x 4 Forest to Coast Adventure Tour on Bruny Island. This small island is just off the coast of Tasmania and is really two islands joined by a long 'neck' between or sandstrip. I made my contribution to the challenge team several day's before but knowing I was going to be seeing a lighthouse on the island, I chose to make this card.

However, like always I am late getting it in!!!!

This is using the SU High Tide stamp set and SU card and ink.
It is double stamped and triple stamped - using my Hinged Stamper to effect.

This sentiment was the one I chose from several good ones in the set.

I took over 300 photo's on the day - here are several I am quite please with

The lighthouse at the bottom of the island - built in 1836. It is no longer operational but is maintained as a tourist attraction.

This is Cloudy Bay on the Eastern side of the Island. The closest land to this is Africa s it is below the South American Peninsular. Two strangers also enjoyed the view.

Gift Giving.....

You know when you are giving your friend/relative a gift voucher or money and it seems a bit common to just hand it to them or put it inside a card to fall out then they open the card? I like to make a small pouch or box for the voucher or cash as this shows a bit more thought.

Over at Unstampabelles, there is a challenge currently running for June whereby you are asked to make a male card, page, tag, object, gift...... WITHOUT using STAMPS! I had just received a parcel of papers and bits from the UK containing amid other things some decoupage sheets that just popped out - no fussy cutting! As they were for a male, I immediately started to think about how I could use them for the challenge.

I used my SU gift pouch die set to make the pouch and then added some extra decoration. It was quick, easy and came out well. The shark is the third layer!

Nice and sparkly!

You can tuck the cash down to hide it or leave it poking out the top. I borrowed this note from hubby - he was loath to hand it over - and just tucked it into the top. For those who don't know what our currency looks like - Wikipedia has some info and you can guess the note's denomination (and perhaps understand why hubby was loath to hand it over, even for a few minutes)!

You can enter your own interpretation for the Unstampabelles Challenge

#69: To the men in our lives.....
TWIST add an animal

I will enter this in the following challenges:
Great Impressions:  masculine
Allsorts: use 2 dies at least - the gift bag is a die as is the sentiment; plus the deco line of circles

Oh Brother........

June is here and so is the latest challenge at Unstampabelles...........

#69: To the men in our lives.....
TWIST add an animal (or bird)

I made a card this time:

I purchased a new die called Puzzle by Paper Roses and die cut an image that came as a freebie with a magazine to make a jigsaw from it - I deliberately removed one piece an replaced it out of the hole to emphasis the jigsaw......

I had it all planned out but as you know, what is in my head does not always look the same when completed. This is the second image and the first one is on the bin - because I forgot to stick it to card first before die cutting it and got myself into all sorts of difficulties trying initially to correct the error. Note to self: think before doing!

The dies added are a collection of various ones I own by different die makers - if you really want to know who just email me.

You can enter all month and make a card, a tag, a scrap page, a gift.....whatever is suitable for the men in our lives. Don't forget to add an animal for the twist!

It is a cold day today but not overcast and it will be a cold night - we have entered winter with a flourish of snow earlier in the week but mostly clear, calm blue days and a bit of rain in the evenings.

There have been an abundance of stunning aurora photographs this week on FB and Instagram
Here is just one of them

Foiled again! Without the heat too!

Over at Crafting with Dragonflies the new challenge in June is

"Anything Goes"!

These always do well so expect a flood of entries Hilde!

I have been experimenting with some foil sheets, some glue, jac paper and embossing folders trying to follow the ideas of Stacey at Scrapbooking Made Simple on YouTube. I think the numbers are about 140 or 141 - I watched about three yesterday!

While I haven't quite perfected it yet, I think I am well on the way - I stopped playing and put some things together I had made earlier. They don't photograph that well but IRL they look fabulous indeed, catching the light every which way and reflecting it back. Looking at the card on the shelf now it looks as if there are small blue lights behind the butterfly!

Outside it was a bit more restrained.....
There is foil on all surfaces except the sentiment and I did try to do that too but it was a bit small to give clear lettering with the glue. Under the butterfly is foiled twice!
I have used two different foils - a gold one and a silver patterned one with hints of gold in it.
In addition, I used on the negative piece some gold Indigo Blue Mega Flake.
You can see in the bottom of the photo below (left side) another butterfly foiled with an iridescent foil, and the negative was put onto card and then instead of adding another foil, I sprinkled it with glitter. I have not made a card for this yet - will so so now.......

I fussy cut the butterfly after I had put Zig glue on the stamp (washes off with warm soapy water) and stamped this onto white card; placed the first silver foil onto the stamped image and carefully pressed it into the glue with my fingers - you have to have the foil colour side UP - and carefully peeled the foil piece off the card. It left the outline of the butterfly - what you would see if it was inked and stamped. I will see what other glues work as well..... Flitter glue might......

The negative was then carefully put onto the sticky part of a piece of double sided card. Once it was obviously on, I took off the clear foil top and underneath was the negative on the card. To this I added the gold flakes and pressed them in, and then skitched the top with the skitchy thing - this gently scratched the foil top as well and dulled it a bit. All of this was then put this inside a card blank and rolled through the Big Shot in a sandwich with the plates to adhere the glue to the foils and flakes.

Next was a piece of jac paper on a piece of card; gold foil was on top of this; into an embossing folder and then rolled through the Big shot to impress the image. DON'T run it back through - once is enough I discovered - and then peel off the top layer. Layer up the bits.

Outside in the sun it really sparked off colours

Rich and sparkly

You can see the gold flakes under the wings of the butterfly

I will definitely try this technique again!

Pink and/or Purple

There is a new June challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu!

A touch of Pink and/or Purple!

I made a gift card container for a female - and used a new technique I learned off Scrapbooking Made Simple involving foil and sticky-backed anything! Loved the tutorial on YouTube - I think it was about 204.......or it could have been one slightly earlier.....

She is amazing, Stacy, in that she uses stuff in so many gloriously different ways!

I used double-sided chipboard- sticky both sides!

It has such a beautiful shine and no heat required!

Simple fold and some decoration

Love my D'Lish flowers!

Inside can take a card or a gift voucher

There you are!

Eclectic Ellapu is open for a month!
