Too late for Father's Day, but could be a birthday

The Squirrel and the Fox says Happy Birthday!

Sponsored by The Paper Shelter

Prize - $20 Gift Certificate

It is only appropriate that our theme is Happy Birthday!
The Squirrel and The Fox is celebrating it's 3rd Birthday!

However, it is with sadness that we also announce that this will be the last challenge from us. Linda has decided to "close up shop for The Squirrel and The Fox." While this is sad for us, it is the right thing for Linda at this stage of her life and I would like to personally thank her for accepting me onto the Design Team and for her on-going support while on the team. Please go to the Squirrel and the Fox for further information.

So, on to my last card for the Design Team

My last card for them was made in two stages. It is a decoupage image provided by the sponsor, and after printing it off, I had to cut it out. As it was pre-op I did this OK with the scissors, and then took to the fiddly bits with my Fiskars scalpel, which is worn on the finger for greater control.  Works well until you are just finishing off and lift the right hand, spasm and drive the point of the scalpel under the nail of the middle finger on the left hand - the day before same hand is being operated on!

Blood everywhere

Yes, some on the image but I managed to wipe that off  and put something over the spot!

I needed that glass of wine but it was 11.00 am!

After I calmed down and ascertained I still had seven fingers (long story) I left the cut out pieces to be assembled later..........and no, I didn't fess up to the staff at the hospital  - it wasn't that noticable the next day so I got away with it.......

.......and, two weeks later I one-handedly put this together and stamped the sentiment. It should have been embossed in black to stand out more but wasn't quite up to that. Yes, it is all a bit crooked.

the decoupage layers - three in places

I added a ribbon and a charm - papers from the increasing pile of paper stash! All card is from Stampin' Up, card blank is from Regal Craft.

So, that is the journey - inside says all about having a Happy Birthday!
Why not go and enter this fabulous challenge as a loving farewell to a great couple of girls who put together a fabulous challenge blog and ran it successfully for three good years!

The other DT members have made great use of the sponsors images as well

Challenge #35: Gift Card Holder for Crafting with Dragonflies

Another challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies that involves the construction rather than just straight card making! Yippee! I really like these challenges.

We have been sponsored by

They have offered us (the DT) some more images to use and the prize is
7 digi's of the winners choice!

Again, Yippee! I REALLY like their images.
I decided to used one they gave us a few months ago on my Gift Card Holder

I smeared around some Momento ink to colour the background, and just printed off the image onto the XPress Blending card. A heat gun might be a good idea to set the ink before you go smearing - I had to print it twice!

I added it to a bellyband - the card I used here is SU Crushed Curry, and the ribbon from my stash is a piece of seam binding. I used Spellbinders dies to cut the circles and the trim on the white card.

The DP is also SU's newest stuff - ain't it pretty - Moonlight.

I took a piece of white card from Blue Edge Crafts, and cut it to the width of the diecut and then some to turn in. I then folded it at 10 cm and 20 cm and left about 6 cm before die cutting the edge. I added some folds using the score board on the side (about half a cm) each side, and stuck together with SU red tape. The sentiment comes from the SU Just Believe and is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. This created an envelope quite big enough for a gift card or some cash or even a cheque! There is room for a note as well!

Now its your turn! You have a fortnight to enter at

I will enter this in the following Challenges:

Midway for Unstampabelles BE FUNNY!

Unstampabelles September Challenge is......
Yes, be funny - and the TWIST is

FRAME IT!

So, I went to the wine.......

There is a great prize too

Sponsored by Susan (me) and the Wood Fellow (hubby!)

The prize is this Spellbinders diecut set

Along the way there is a
DT CALL

We are having to say goodbye to one of our Belles - Hilde - who needs space to fight a bigger battle than what card to make. Our thoughts and prayers go to her and our thanks for her work to date.

So, that means we are looking for several new DT members, as we want to try a two team style, with team A and B producing work for the first and third Mondays only.  If you are interested in more details, please email me HERE and put DT call in the subject line.

I did say I reached for the wine......

........bottle label folder, where I store the beautiful labels from bottles I may or may not have drunk. It is a fairly sad state of affairs when friends are more likely to deliver empty wine bottles to me than full ones, 'cause they think I might like the label! I often do!

This one was just so suitable for the sentiment. The sentiment was a joke found on the web, and printed off on the computer, and the conversation balloons added with fine black pen before being fussy cut.

All card is from SU.

Suitable for male or female, and for a few reasons, which can be made clear in the insert.

Why not go and see what else is happening at

I will enter this at the following challenges:
Avenue 613: Anything Goes
Crafty Catz: Clean and Simple

The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge #77

Challenge #77
(sorry this went live too early - hopefully it is scheduled OK now|)

For a Male
Our Sponsor is
who are offering
Prize - 3 Free Digi's from their store

I used die cuts to create the sentiments - the MATE came from individual letters. The image is one supplied by the sponsor for our use - he is cute, I think, eating his slice of water melon.  Although in reality Koala's only eat the leaves of certain gum trees, and rarely even drink water.

The image was printed onto XPress blending card and coloured in with Copics, and then die cut into a circle. A line of black Copic pen was run around the outside of the circle.

The whole front of the card is from one embossing folder, and this had been embosssed onto some SU Gumball Green, and then layered onto SU Soft Sky and Calypso Coral card. The latter makes the base card as well. The die cut sentiments are also in the CC card.

I thought this would be a good card for a 'between' aged boy, say about 9 or 10 - still cute but not too young.

I will enter this in the following challenges:
crafty cardmakers: dry embossing
card and scrap: anything goes
tokBobok: masculine

A One-Armed Crafter

The reason why I have been and will be a bit quieter on blogland.....

Thursday pm after surgery - not bad for a selfie taken one-handed and high on drugs!

Yesterday - Monday - bored! I was flipping through old magazines for my idea project book - and took this to share with my darling grand-daughter who is hobbling about in NZ with either a broken or badly sprained ankle. She  won't be going to Lucerne with the band now poor kid.

Note that I now have nail polish on! A GIRL HAS TO KEEP UP STANDARDS!

Stitches out on Friday - and then 6 weeks in a splint with physio. Medical Science is amazing these days. Hopefully I will be back crafting before you know it!
Meanwhile, scheduler is mostly working.........

Happy Spring!

September and a New Challenge at Unstampabelles

The theme for the month is to "be funny" and the TWIST is to FRAME IT!

I made two items.

Before I show you those I will talk about the prize.
My hubby, the Wood Guy, and myself are providing that this month.

Here it is, from Spellbinders.

The first card is mostly hand drawn, and added to with appropriate enbellies

The drawing was mounted on red card before being placed on a white square commercial card fromRegal Crafts.

I have a pack of these spiders - for an arachniphobe that is quite an achievement!

A red heart bling piece

Up close to the drawing - idea is a direst CAS from Pinterest.

Sentiment pun is typed up and printed out and mounted an a scrap of red card before being placed.

Now, my second card is a decoupage one, and I talk about a bit on unstampabelleschallenge@blogspot.com.au
So, go there for a discussion on when and what is acceptable but note that this is not a digi stamp,

I do love Gus - he is printed out already coloured up as a decoupage sheet from Bugaboo, and so was the sentiment.

I layered this twice

The keys are also layered, his face, the pipe, the slippers.....

You can see more clearly here.

So, whatever style floats your boat......why not think about making an amusing item without using stamps and after checking out thr DT's creations as well, put in an entry for the challenge.
